How did the idea come?
This book was born in the bookish capital of the world — the Bologna Book Fair. We had been wandering among the book stands for several days… and then the idea struck! A book a bout books! Ideas for what would be inside kept flowing, one after another. We just sat down on some available chairs and wrote down everything that came to mind. We wanted to convey that reading books is trendy, that it's important to cultivate a taste, aesthetics in reading, and love for books. Additionally, we wanted to emphasize that reading helps in making friends around
the world!
What Do
Books
Smell Of?
Books smell like printing ink, creativity, history, anddiscoveries.
Books can smell like anything!
What Do Books Smell Of?
What this book is about
We tell children, on one hand, what a book is: how it is structured, who makes it, what books were like in ancient times. On the other hand, we delve into the culture and aesthetics of reading. We show that reading is trendy, visiting the library is interesting, and running your own book blog or creating a book club at school is cool! Our project is a book about a book from various perspectives.

«Where do books come from?» This question, in its complexity, is no less daunting than the overwhelming «Where do children come from?» Fortunately, we have the perfect assistant in conversations with little book enthusiasts, such as my five-year-old daughter Marusya. On these pages, exciting adventures come to life, detailing what happens to a book before it lands on the shelves of stores and libraries. I'm sure that not only children but also adults will learn a lot of new things. I will definitely acquire several copies for our corporate library for employees.
Mikhail Ivanov
In each chapter, there are not only intriguing facts about books and helpful tips for readers but also various «bookish» activities that will be interesting not only to children but also to adults.
